Announcing Two 2023 SRS Travel Awards
We are pleased to announce two (2) 2023 SRS Travel Awards:
Basmajian Travel Award:
The Basmajian Travel Award is available to all students in the School of Rehabilitation Science Programs, post-doctoral fellows, and clinical faculty members. They are designed to support presentations accepted at scientific meetings (presentations should have occurred in the past 6 months, or in the coming year).
Criteria:

- Primary criterion will be the scientific merit of the application.
- All research with application to rehabilitation is eligible.
- Research with broad application and that which is interdisciplinary may be secondary criteria in assessing applications.
- The conference may be considered in terms of a local, national, or international audience.
- The research being presented need not be peer-reviewed.
- Priority will be given to first-time applicants.
To apply, please complete the attached application form, and submit it (electronically) along with a copy of the abstract of the research being presented (as well as the acceptance notification).
The deadline date for the Basmajian Travel Award applications is 12:00 pm, Friday April 14, 2023. Electronic applications should be submitted to Liz Dzaman (dzaman@mcmaster.ca). Paper copies are not required.

Dr. Ian and Shirley Rowe Travel Award
This award has been supported through a donation to the School of Rehabilitation Science to enable registration and travel (if possible) funding to doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows and early-career investigators (within the first five years of a faculty or term appointment) to present their research in the field of childhood disability. The maximum amount of the award is $2,500.
Applicants for the Dr. Ian and Shirley Rowe Travel Award must be presenting a peer-reviewed paper, poster, or workshop. To be eligible, doctoral students must be presenting the results of their dissertation research.
Criteria:

- Research, in the area of childhood disability, is presented.
- Scientific merit of the application.
- Preference will be given to peer-reviewed submissions; however, prestigious invited presentations may be considered.
- Preference is given to original contributions and lead authorship submissions.
- Inter-professional contributors will not be discouraged if the applicant is a clearly affiliated SRS scientist.
- Presentations may be to a regional, national, North American or International audience of professionals.
The recipient will be asked to provide a one-page report after the conference with information about the conference and how it benefited their scholarly career. This will be submitted to the Vice-Dean of the SRS and shared with the donor family.
If you are interested, please complete the application form detailing how the travel awarded will be used (name of conference, location, timing etc.), how this presentation will benefit the field of childhood disability, the accepted abstract as it was submitted, and acceptance notification.
